Reach Out Rocky Mount Fun Run For Charities
Registration for 2010 begins April 1, 2010
Event Date: May 15, 2010
Location: Imperial Centre, downtown Rocky Mount, NC
Distance: Certified 10k, & 5k Sanctioned Race along with a 1mi Fun Walk and a Kids Dash (for kids 6yrs old and younger).
Registration: Online registration begins April 1, 2010 and end May 12, 2010.
Registration Fees:
- 10k, 5k route $35.00
- 1 mile walk $10.00
- Kid’s Dash $5.00 (for kids 6 years old and younger)
Route: The start and finish for all events will be at the Imperial Centre. Please click on the map to view the route. The roads will be open to traffic so please use caution on the course. We have blocked off the right lane on Falls Road and Peachtree Street so please stay to the right. There will be course marshals along the route.
- 1mile Walk: Line up on Gay Street at the south entrance of the Imperial Centre parking lot. At the first stop light, turn left onto Falls Road. Continue to Trevathan Street and turn left. Follow Trevathan to Peachtree Street and turn left. Turn right on Franklin Street and then left on Gay Street and proceed to the Imperial Centre. As a fun walk, no official times are given. Please obey all traffic signals and stay on the sidewalk.
- 5k route: Cross the start line on Church Street at the east entrance of the Imperial Centre parking lot. At the first stop light, turn left onto Falls Road. Continue on Falls Road and turn right onto the Tar River Trail. Merge left onto the Gazebo trail. Continue of Gazebo trail and turn right onto Battle Park Road. Follow to cone turn. Continue back on Battle Park Road. Turn left onto Benvenue Road and continue until you merge right onto Peachtree Street. Follow Peachtree Street. Turn right on Wilkinson Street and then left on Mill Street and merge right onto Pearl Street. Continue on Pearl Street and cross over the RR tracks. Turn left on Gay Street and continue across Franklin Street to the finish line which is located at the Imperial Centre.
- 10k route: Cross the start line which will be located at the intersection of Church Street and Gay Street. At the first stop light, turn left onto Falls Road. Continue on Falls Road and turn right onto the Tar River Trail and follow this to Thomas Stith/Talbert Park loop. Proceed back to the boat ramp, exit Tar River Trail and follow Battle Park Road. Turn left on Gazebo trail which will loop back to Peachtree Street. Turn left onto Peachtree Street. Continue on Peachtree Street to the first stop light and turn right onto River Road. Follow River Road to Carr Street. Turn left on Carr Street and continue to W. Elm Street. Turn left on W. Elm Street and continue to Peachtree Street. Turn right on Peachtree Street and continue on this to Wilkinson Street. Turn right on Wilkinson Street and then left on Mill Street and merge right onto Pearl Street. Continue on Pearl Street and cross over the RR tracks. Turn left on Gay Street and continue across Franklin Street to the finish line which is located at the Imperial Centre.
- Kid’s Dash: The kids 6 and younger will line up on Gay St as all traffic will be blocked and they will run into the parking lot.
Tentative Schedule for May 15, 2010: As we are ironing out the details our times listed below are subject to change so please check back before race day:
- 6:30 am – Onsite registration begins. We kindly ask for you to register before May 15, 2010 to guarantee your spot in the race and to prevent long lines.
- 6:30 - 7:30 am – Non-profit booth set up.
- 8:00 am – 5k and 10k races begin. There may be a staggered start beginning at 8:00 am if registration numbers are larger than anticipated.
- 10:30 am – Award ceremony for 5k and 10k races.
- 11:00 am – Kids Dash.
- 11:15 am - 1 mile fun walk
Please find time to visit all the participating non-profit booths during the morning so you can learn about what our community has to offer. Please check back closer to race day to see an updated schedule.
Awards: The top three males and females overall, as well as, the fastest three in each age division male and female categories will be recognized with an award. The age divisions are; under 13, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 & over. You must be registered in the competitive 10k or 5k to qualify. All Kid’s Dash participants will receive a souvenir; however there will not be overall awards.
Parking & Directions: There will be no parking at the Imperial Centre the morning of the event. We are expecting a large crowd so please plan ahead and arrive early. Parking is allowed at the following: The Lighthouse, 349 Falls Rd; Church of the Good Shepherd, 231 N Church St; First Presbyterian Church, 153 N Church St; RBC Centura, 131 N Church St; Mount Zion Baptist Church, 320 W Thomas St; & Braswell Memorial Library, 727 N Grace St. We are still working on additional parking. Please look for a sign at each parking lot to indicate parking is allowed for the Fun Run for Charities on Saturday May 15.
Packet Pickup: We highly recommend that you pick up your race packet before race day to avoid long lines. We will have packet pick up available on Friday, May 14 from 12 pm until 7 pm at the Harrison Family YMCA located at 1000 Independence Drive. Race day packet pick will open at 6:30 am at the Imperial Centre Courtyard.
Rules:
- No skates or bikes in the competitive event.
- Strollers and wheelchairs are welcomed in the 1 mi event.
- Runner must remain on the course at all times.
- At no time are runners allowed to switch or transfer bib numbers.
- The City of Rocky Mount along with the Fun Run for Charities Race Committee reserves the right to disqualify or reject any application or participant during the event.
- Have FUN!
Rain or shine we will still have our event. If the race is cancelled due to circumstances beyond the control of the Fun Run for Charities race committee, there will be no refund for registration fee. Click on the buttons below to view the 5K and 10K course maps.
