General Information for Volunteers
- Each volunteer is extremely critical to the schedule and flow of our BIG day. We want to create a positive, enjoyable experience for all who participate. Be prepared to have some fun.
- The morning of the event we will need registered volunteers to check in at the volunteer desk located at the courtyard of the Imperial Centre.
- You will receive an official volunteer shirt. Please wear your volunteer shirt when volunteering for Fun Run for Charities as it will help identify you as part of the Race Crew.
- Volunteers working on Saturday the day of the event should be prepared for an early start time and full morning.
- Rain or shine we will still have the event. Be sure to check the weather so you can dress comfortably for the area in which you are assigned to work.
- Please stay in your assigned area and direct any questions to your Volunteer Captain.
- In case of a medical emergency of any participant (runners, spectators, or other volunteers) contact the official volunteer medical personnel immediately.
- Focus on being helpful to all our Fun Run for Charities participants—smile and be courteous at all times! Most of all don’t forget to have some fun and cheer on all the participants.
Below is a list of a few of the areas where we will need volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering for the day of the event please register on the volunteer registration page. If there is a certain area you want to volunteer in, please let us know. The online registration page will be available beginning April 1, 2010.
Registration / Packet Pick Up:
Check-in all runners, walkers, kids and volunteers. Make sure their contact information is correct. Assist participants and distribute race packet pick-up (which includes bib number, shirt, time chip, etc). Volunteers will receive a shirt that should be worn during the event.
Course Marshals:
Marshals will be stationed at various intersections and key points throughout the race course to make sure all participants make the correct turns and stay on course. They will help keep spectators well outside the marked course area and cheer on all participants to ensure a successful, safe event. Course Marshals may be asked to help control some traffic where needed. All marshals will be provided with a traffic safety vest. Make sure to check the weather the night before race day because we will still have the Fun Run rain or shine.
Finish Line Marshal:
Volunteers would be responsible for moving the participants through the finish area and removing the time chips from the competitive runners. They will assist in the clean-up of this area and congratulate everyone on completing the event.
The list will also be updated as we get closer to race day. If you would like additional information about volunteering with Fun Run for Charities please email us at funrunvolunteer@gmail.com.
